Secondary

High School/ Middle School

High school is the name used in some parts of the world (in particular Scotland, North America and Australia) to describe an institution which provides all or part of secondary education. The term originated in Scotland and spread to the New World countries as the high prestige that the Scottish educational system had at the time led several countries to employ Scottish educators to develop their state education systems.

The precise stage of schooling provided by a high school differs from country to country, and may vary within the same jurisdiction. In all of New Zealand and parts of Australia and Canada, high school is synonymous with secondary school, and encompasses the entire secondary stage of education. High school can also be the point in life for many students where they mature and develop a deeper sense of understanding about themselves and the people around them. Alternatively, some students will undergo this transitional stage later on in life when they enter college or university, although this is usually a continued progression that originates in high school.

MVCS  High School Retreat

We are very excited about the up-coming school year, and one of the first big events is our High School Retreat for grades 9-12.  We are going to Cook Canyon Ranch in Ruidoso. Your student will experience a beautiful 160-acre ranch in the mountains along with the other 165+ students. The retreat will offer an awesome time of worshipping, excellent speakers, re-connecting with one another, getting to meet new friends, and kicking off the new school year. The cost includes three days, two nights, five meals, and transportation. Also, there will be a FREE 300 ft. “Zip Line” available for the students at scheduled times, AND “Paint Ball” will be scheduled for the students at a cost of $5.00/person.  Chaperones for the retreat will be the teachers, staff, and administration. The cost will be $85.00/student.
On August 9th there will be a table set up on Registration day for all students to sign up, pay the fee and sign a Liability Release Form.  Also there will be a sign-up sheet for paint ball, but the $5 can be paid when we get to camp.  Cook Canyon Ranch needs to know the number coming so they can get prepared as far as staff and food.  You can pay for the retreat on registration day or come into the office anytime next week.
