No School on Friday, March 12th if the Boys Basketball Team wins on Wednesday, March 10th at State.
Winning this coming Wednesday means we will cancel school on Friday. There is such a close relationship between the High School and Elementary and many of the Basketball players go over and tutor the elementary students. The elementary hangs up their pictures and throw victory parties so they want to be included in the ability to go cheer their team to victory. We have built extra days in the school calendar to cover any time we call school off. We will have child care providers at the school on Friday and you may drop your child off as early as 7:15 a.m. and pick them up no later than 5:30 p.m without extra charge. Thank you for your understanding. It is thrilling to see our school vying for the top spot in the state.
Congratulations to the Boys Varsity Basketball Team - After a challenging season the Sonblazers won the District 5-2A Title and Regional Title. They are 27-1 for the season. They play at the State games starting Wednesday, March 10th at the Santa Ana Star Center in Albuquerque at 3:00 PM. The next State game will be at 8:00 AM on Friday, March 12th in the Pit in Albuquerque. There will be an MVCS Fan Bus leaving very early from the school on Friday morning.
Congratulations to our Math Olympic students who went to Tempe, Arizona on March 5th to compete in the Math Olympics. Annika Conn (3rd grade) won 1st place in the 3rd Grade Computation, Rebekah Hall (7th grade) won 3rd place in the 7th Grade Computation, Hunter Conn (4th grade) won 4th in the 4th Grade Reasoning and Theo Taylor (3rd grade) won 5th in the 3rd Grade Computation. Great job to all of our MVCS students who competed in Tempe. We had 16 students who qualified.
MVCS Weight Room The cost of this new facility was $50,000 and we are currently raising the funds to pay for this. We have a group of families that are spearheading the fundraising campaign this year to raise funds to pay this amount back as quickly as possible, we hope you will participate in this important endeavor. This is not a liability that is being carried by the school, it is a private effort by involved parents, so your participation is very important. Your contribution will be recognized in many different ways, and we are offering a one time membership in our exclusive club for those that help. Please review the brochure for more information, but keep in mind that donations of any amount are appreciated. For contributions, please call Charles Gleghorn at 635-6675 or Gary Coppedge at 649-4084. Weight room sponsors are needed. See how you can be a sponsor by clicking here for details.
